Inkflip
Your videos stay on your phone.
Inkflip is an Android app from Unfolding Ltd. that turns a video into drawn animation. Everything it does with your video happens on your phone.
What the app uses
Inkflip reads only the video you choose, or the one you record with your camera app from inside Inkflip. It draws each frame on your phone. When you use Focus on someone, small models included in the app find the person or animal you tapped and follow them through the clip; this also happens on your phone.
The app does not require an account. It does not upload your videos, drawings, or diagnostic reports, and it does not connect to the internet to process them. It does not include advertising, analytics, or remote crash-reporting services.
Your videos and drawings
Finished drawings save automatically to Movies/Inkflip on your phone. Videos you record with Record one are saved there too. Inkflip never changes or deletes the original video you chose.
While you work, Inkflip keeps a few things in its private app storage: your settings, the last finished drawing before it is copied to your gallery, and tracking results for videos you used with Focus on someone, so they don't need to be worked out again. If Android closes the app while it is drawing, Inkflip remembers which video and settings you were using, so it can offer to bring them back. Clearing the app's data or uninstalling it removes all of this. Android may also clear temporary files on its own.
Removing Inkflip does not delete drawings already saved to your gallery. You can delete them with your gallery or file app.
Permissions
Inkflip asks to show notifications, so you can see a drawing's progress and know when it's done while you use other apps. It does not request camera, microphone, location, or contacts access: recording uses your phone's own camera app, and choosing a video uses Android's picker, which gives Inkflip access to that one video only.
Sharing and support
Nothing is shared automatically. If you choose Share, Android sends the saved drawing to the app you select. That app handles the file under its own privacy practices; Inkflip does not receive a copy.
Inkflip can show a Diagnostics report (⋮ menu) to help with problems. It lists your phone model, Android version, Inkflip version, settings, timings, and the name of the video file you opened. It contains no pictures or video. It stays on your phone unless you copy it and send it to someone.
If you contact support, include only information you intend to share. You do not need to send your videos. Only share videos you have permission to share.
